What's the connection between Pasty.net and Pasty.com?
"Pasty.com" started as a project of Still Waters Assisted Living Community in Calumet, Michigan in 1996. The site was dubbed "Pasty Central" by one of its many daily visitors. "Pasty.net" began three years later, in response to the need for dependable web hosting and dial-in service in Upper Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. In 2003, Pasty.NET rolled out a nationwide network of local-dial in numbers, including most local exchanges in the U.P.
Pasty Central, the pasty baking and online sales project, and Pasty.NET are separate corporations. Pasty.NET continues to provide the online resources for Pasty Central.
How does Pasty.NET compare to other Internet services?
(AOL, MSN, Earthlink, etc.)
Like the other major national online services, Pasty.NET provides dial-in numbers in local exchanges throughout the country. Our major focus is Michigan's Upper Peninsula, but the service can be accessed throughout the U.S. Members have email addresses @pasty.com or @pasty.net. Membership costs as little as $17.50 per month, when paid annually - a substantial savings compared to other national services.
Pasty.NET also provides DSL service anywhere in the 906 area code (provided DSL is available). Pasty.NET also operated a broadband wireless service in various places in Keweenaw and Houghton counties. Call our support line to see if we serve your neighborhood.
The same support staff which serves our U.P. membership can be reached by the toll-free support number, 1-800-327-0966.
How do long-time members in the Copper Country access the nation-wide network?
Additional settings are required for members who joined prior to 2003 and the introduction of the national dial-in numbers. Call our local Keweenaw support hotline for details and your options for connecting: 337-0569.
